Behind Every System Is a Team Expected to Work Differently Tomorrow

Some people look at a system implementation and focus on the technology. We focus on the people on the other side of it, the ones expected to change how they work on Monday morning. Because change is never just technical, it's personal.

It reshapes how teams work every day, and without the right support, even the best systems can fall short.

That's where we come in.

At Bloom Consulting, we help organizations improve how their operations actually run by aligning systems, workflows and the people who rely on them every day.

From enterprise technology implementations to broader organizational transformation, our work sits at the intersection of operations, workflow optimization and change management.

We don't just support systems going live. We support teams in actually using them confidently, efficiently and in a way that lasts.

We assess how work is happening today, identify gaps and guide more effective ways of working, so change isn't just introduced, but understood, adopted and sustained across your organization.

We partner with organizations of every size and industry, from large enterprises managing complex transformation to growing businesses navigating modernization, scale or what comes next. Because thoughtful, well-executed change shouldn't be reserved for the largest organizations.

Our approach is collaborative, practical and grounded in real-world experience. Not abstract theory, not templates and never one-size-fits-all.

Meet The Founder

Hello! I’m Heather Truman.

I've always been drawn to the people behind the work. My career began in frontline clinical roles and, over nearly two decades, evolved into health IT, operations and ultimately change management leadership. I led and supported some of the largest transitions an organization can take on: enterprise-wide Epic go-lives, a Workday implementation and the operational work of mergers and acquisitions. Each one reinforced the same lesson: Technology is rarely the hard part. The hard part is the people being asked to work differently because of it.

Along the way, I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia, dual master's degrees (MBA and MHA) from Mary Baldwin University and my Prosci change management certification. I spent the heart of my career in change management leadership at Sentara Health, where these ideas moved from theory into practice.

Those experiences shaped how I see this work. Because time and time again, I saw the same pattern: organizations would invest heavily in new systems or growth initiatives and still struggle to create meaningful, lasting change. The system would go live and the project was technically “complete.” But the people doing the work were left to figure out how to make it all fit into their day-to-day reality.

That gap became my focus.

Bloom Consulting was built from that conviction: an approach to consulting that supports not just the system, but the people responsible for carrying it forward. Today, I partner with organizations across industries to guide change in a way that feels clear, practical and sustainable.

I'm especially passionate about supporting the businesses here in my home community of Hampton Roads, and I stay closely connected through volunteer work with the American Red Cross and Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters (CHKD).

How We Work

Every engagement is different, but the way we move through the work stays consistent. It's built to make change something your team understands and carries forward, not something that happens to them.

Assess

We start by understanding how work actually happens today, surfacing the gaps, friction and breakdowns that slow teams down.

Align

We connect operations, systems and the people who use them, designing clearer ways of working that fit the day-to-day reality of getting work done.

Adopt

We prepare and support teams through the change itself, so new systems and processes are embraced with confidence, not just deployed.

Sustain

We help the change hold long after the rollout, so the improvement becomes the new normal instead of fading once attention moves on.

What We Believe

Organizations invest heavily in technology and systems, and far less in the people expected to make them work. That imbalance is where most change quietly stalls.

We believe lasting transformation requires both. The right systems, and the people equipped, supported and confident enough to carry them forward. When you invest in the human side of change, the rest finally holds.
